An increasingly more important role player in the Dohne Merino industry – CRUX Dohnes – Held its annual production sale on 07 february 2019. The major objective of CRUX Dohnes is to provide veld adapted rams to Commercial Dohne farmers in mainly the Southern Freestate area. This year they sold a total of 108 rams at an average price of R10,042. Ewe prices varied on average between the sellers from R1,988 to R2667. The total of 1378 ewes were sold at the average price of R2185. The highest priced ram at R40,000 was sold by Mr. Schalk van der Merwe to new stud breeder, Mr Kobus Jacobs (Reddersburg). Flock farmers experienced a wide choice of excellent quality rams sold at prices ranging between R5,000 and R10,000.
