News from the Dohne Merino office

It is with great sadness that the office of the Dohne Merino breed society reports that the father of Mr. Koos Vosloo, president of the society passed away.   Chris Vosloo was well known in the woolled sheep industry and he will be remembered for a long time to come.  Chris made a huge contribution to establishing the Dohne Merino in the Edinburg district and eventually the entire southern Free State area.  The situation of this huge loss to the Vosloo family is aggravated by the diagnosis of Covid-19 on Koos.  We extend our sincere condolences to the Vosloo family.   We trust that Koos and his family will find consolation in the word of the Almighty and remember Chris for the man he was.

Johannes Boshoff, tragically lost his father.  Johannes’s elderly father was run-over by a taxi while attending to afire-break next to a major road.  The Dohne Merino breed society conveys its condolences to the Boshoff  Family with this tragic loss and it is trusted that they will find consolation in many good memories .

Peter Blaine and his family lost Peter’s mother who was resident in the old age home in Stutterheim.  Peter and Thomas (son) run one of the oldest Dohne Merino studs in South Africa, Ross Dohnes.  The Dohne Merino breed society conveys its condolences to Peter as well as the Blaine family.  It is trusted that they will find consolation in good memories.

On a more positive note the breed society congratulates Freddy Schmidt on the arrival of  a grand son with Freddy’s name.  Another family – the Marais’s from Cradock were blessed with a little baby daughter – Michaila (trust that the spelling is correct).  Congratulations to Japie and Lollie Marais for this miracle in their lives.  We hope that these families will enjoy the blessings of these two new born family members
