The Dohne Merino breed society welcomes Vaughan Collier who is appointed as assistant manager of the breed society from the first of March 2023.
Vaughan is married to Annekie and have three kids. He is 38 years old and farms with Merinos since 2014 on his family farm in the district of Colesberg. He is part of the management of the Grootrivier Merino club and also won the club’s young ewe competition on three occasions. Currently he is also chairman of Colesberg Agri.
Vaughan, a former learner of Marlow agricultural school and achieved a B-Agric qualification at the University of the Free State in 2007. He served as livestock advisor at BKB between 2009 and 2013 during which time he qualified as “inspector in Dohne terms” of various breeds including Dorpers, Dormers, SA Mutton Merinos, SA Landsheep, Merinos and off course Dohne Merinos.
Vaughan describes himself as energetic, willing to learn from others and also to take leadership. He envisages to make a difference in his new position.
The Dohne Merino breed society is looking forward to Vaughan’s his formal appointment from the 1st of March. The breed society is however excited to already introduce him to Dohne farmers at all possible events of the breed society during February.
