Following the Top Breeder awards, the book launch by Mr. Cameron McMaster, was the highlight of the pre-sale function. Mr Mcmaster not only mentioned a few interesting facts from this must have book for every small stock breeder, but he also expanded on how the concept of a book for commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Dohne Merino Breed Society, materialized. Mr McMaster who devoted his entire life to Dohne Merino Breeding, was Manager of the Breed society for a period of 30 years from 1970 to the year 2000. The Dohne Merino Breed Society can only have praise for Mr. McMaster’s continued devotion to the breed long after he officially retired. The book is in the format of an easy readable saga that appeals to all walks of life and contains full colour photo collages of all noteworthy events on the Dohne calender over the past 50 years. The function ended by opening two bottles of champagne in celebration of the 50th birthday of the Dohne Merino Breed Society and “Birth of a Breed – the Dohne Merino Story” in commemoration of this historical event.
