Suidplaas Dohnes held its second ram sale for 2021 (23rd production sale) on the 11th of August. The total of 110 top Dohne Merino rams were all sold for the average price of R17964. The top priced ram at R83,000, was bought on-line by Mr Cornel Landman from Oudtshoorn who could not attend the sale in person. This ram, JG191958, was single born and boast breeding values of: weaning direct 6.103 kg; Weaning maternal -0.049 kg; Number of lambs weaned -1.283 percent; clean fleece weight 0.283 kg; fibre diameter -1.445 micron. Mr Wynand du Toit also sold 400 commercial young Dohne Merino ewes (ready for first mating) at the price of R3600 each. Note that average prices have to be officialy confirmed.
